Principle of
Ultrasonic Welding
|
Principle of Ultrasonic Welding Ultrasonic Plastic Welding System converts the input frequency of 50/60 Hz to 20KHz and above, which in turn is supplied to Converter. The converter transforms this electronic energy into Mechanical Vibratory Energy. This Vibratory energy is delivered to a work-piece through a Sonotrode to generate localized frictional heat under pressure. This heat melts & fuses the work-piece interface creating a strong molecular bond (joint between two thermoplastic parts).
Construction of Ultrasonic Plastic Welding Equipment
Generator
:The
Generator is an electronic, power and frequency generating device, which
converts energy from mains supply into required frequency (20 kHz and
above) and power (300 W to 4000 W).
Converter :
This is stack of PZT elements, sandwiched between metals masses, which converts electrical signal into mechanical vibrations.
Booster :
The Booster transmits the mechanical vibrations to the Sonotrode and also amplifies the vibration amplitude to the required value at the Sonotrode tip.
Sonotrode :
This is a tool, having specific designed shape and performs the following operations.
- Transmits vibrations
- Generates contact pressure
- Transforms the amplitude
